…The Musings of a Strange Guy

Divali or Deepavali, the Festival of Lights, the day where the Goddess Lakshmi is worshipped and welcomed in our houses, the night where thousands of little earthen lamps or electric lights illuminate the night sky… I’ve always enjoyed this festival: because of the cakes, because of the symbolism of the lights dispelling darkness and ignorance, because of the spirit of sharing and solidarity that one feels, because of the ancient ritual of lighting and placing the lamps and checking that they don’t … in fact, for many things!

And tonight we are here, I and my sister, lighting up those lamps again (while happily munching on the oh so sweet cakes!)

Wish you all a very Happy Divali. May the light always shine on you and your loved ones.
